As a New Generation Forms, Should the Opinion of Kids Be More Into Consideration Now?
During the pandemic tiktok started taking over the world and letting the generation Gen Z have a voice they never thought they could have. As we all know children/adolescents have never been able to voice their opinions because it was always considered “disrespectful “ and their opinion never matters because they aren’t “mature enough “ but maturity has nothing to do with age more about the experiences someone goes through. Some parents tend to be lenient towards their children but if you grew up in a Hispanic/Caribbean/African/Asian household your opinions never matter unless you were paying bills or putting food on the table.
As time goes by we see history repeating itself with parenting but Gen Z might just be the generation to change all of that and lead us in a new direction. Many children/adolescents go through a lot just because they feel like they don’t matter or their voices aren’t being heard. All anyone ever wants is to be heard. The environment you grow up in sets a foundation for everything else in life, the things you grow up learning, hearing and seeing are what help people navigate the world. Knowing from a young age your opinion doesn’t matter makes you question what the rest of the world is like.
Voicing your opinion is such an important thing to know because it comes with many pros. Appearing more confident, drives discussion, being a voice for others, if you are wrong you’ll learn why etc. It is never a terrible thing to be confident. It might help you appear more enticing during a job interview. It might help you appear more authoritative during a trade discussion. In a meeting, it might make you appear more important. Speaking your mind freely helps you look more confident, and the impact is amplified depending on the degree of controversy around that opinion. Even if your point of view isn't taken seriously, the fact that you brought it up might spark a worthwhile dialogue.Let's assume you're not sure your point of view is correct, or you're certain there's something "wrong" with it. This might indicate that your opinion is unfounded or irrelevant, or it could simply be your brain toying with you. If you want to find out, you must express your views. If your instincts are correct and your viewpoint contains an error, such as a mistaken assumption or erroneous facts, the people around you will let you know. You will not seem silly; instead, the circumstance will become a true learning experience from which you will emerge wiser.People are afraid to express their thoughts because they believe they are the only ones who feel that way. Everyone else could be thinking the same thing. You may offer everyone else a voice if you express yours. You could be more helpful than you know.
Overall, day by day Gen Z is slowly changing the way the world functions with being strong advocates for mental health and encouraging people to speak their mind on whatever they care about.
