This pride is a sad one. As queer rights are being stripped away left and right, limiting legislation is being added in every state, and LGBTQ+ people are being told that who they are is not only bad, but it’s also unnatural and illegal, this pride is a somber one and queer people need support and resources more than ever. Pride is about being both a celebration of joy as well as fighting back against those who want to tear us down for who we love. Donating your time, energy, and money to LGBTQ+ organizations, especially trans positive ones, are great places to start this Pride with helping do your part to make sure being queer both stays legal and help those who are queer to stay healthy and protected. Here is a list of places to donate your time, energy, resources, and coin if you’ve got it that are doing just that: taking care of queer folk.

While money is important, and money talks in some ways that words can’t, remember that the best places to donate are not non-profits, but people. Look in your community and see who needs your time, money, and resources, and expend yours towards them. The best place to start is with your community and work from the grassroots all the way up. There are people struggling in your backyard. Help them first, then reach out past where you can easily reach. I saw this quote on Reddit and I agree: “What it really comes down to isn’t how much money you donate to a trans organization, or donating to a list of trans organizations per day, what matters is how do you personally help trans people in your daily life? If you have trans friends and family in your life? How do you support them emotionally, physically, mentally and financially? Sometimes directly supporting trans people you see asking for donations on Social Media…[are the] better ways and smarter ways of supporting trans lives and sometimes it’s way more direct than donating to a trans organization.” If these organizations are the only way you can donate, then do that, but I would implore you to try to dig deeper this year as trans communities are being hit harder than ever by limiting legislation and hate crimes.
Speaking up for marginalized communities is good, but following that up with action is where the real work is. Use your voice, your time, your energy, and your coins to make a difference this Pride. You never know who you may help.

“Donating To Trans Orgs is a Great Thing but it Isn’t The Activism You Think It Is!
Yes, donate to trans organizations like the *Trevor Project, *local trans organizations in your state or country, donate to *Planned Parenthood and for reproductive rights for trans people and women, especially the black and brown trans, but keep in mind this doesn’t absolve you of any criticisms, nor is it a cure all for trans people. It’s an incredible *START to what we should be doing.
Donating to organizations in the grander scheme of it all isn’t going to give the trans community the rights they need or want, although these organizations can speak in general for a marginalized community, HOW ARE YOU SPEAKING UP ABOUT MARGINALIZED COMMUNITIES?!
What it really comes down to isn’t how much money you donate to a trans organization, or donating to a list of trans organizations per day, what matters is how do you personally help trans people in your daily life? If you have trans friends and family in your life? How do you support them emotionally, physically, mentally and financially? Sometimes directly supporting trans people you see asking for donations on Social Media i.e. Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and more, it would be helpful to share their gofundme, PayPal, Cashapp, etc. on your social media, hell why not post them here in this sub too? It would be helpful to directly pay that trans person asking for donations, (the excuse “giving strangers money” shouldn’t apply here if you genuinely care about the houseless and trans people, especially the houseless trans people.)
All these things are good, but it doesn’t make anyone a better leftist (which people genuinely think they’re better than people because they donate,) it doesn’t help 100% in the way you think it will donating money to The Trevor Project although they are a great organization to donate for. I’m just saying there’s better ways and smarter ways of supporting trans lives and sometimes it’s way more direct than donating to a trans organization. Something this sub should consider.” - Mud-Waste on Reddit
