Following the hype of the release of her third studio album—you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love—Rodrigo has put together a festival featuring a 100% all-women lineup. It’s set to take place in Irvine, California on August 29th. Tickets for this festival sold out in minutes, which may raise the question, “Why all the hype?”
To start, the lineup is simply stacked—especially for huge fans of pop music. Of course, the biggest name on the lineup is Olivia Rodrigo herself. Rodrigo had potentially the most iconic debut of the 2020s. Originally known for her acting career on Disney Channel, whether it was Bizaardvark (2016-2019) or High School Musical: The Musical: The Series (2019-2023), Rodrigo took one massive leap into the pop music spotlight in 2021 with her first single, “drivers license.” Instantly relatable to teenage girls, Rodrigo carved out a space for her in the pop scene. When SOUR (2021) released, it took the world by storm, debuting at No. 1 on Billboard 200. The record is filled with classic, sad ballads contrasted by the tracks that dip into rock/punk, like “good 4 u” and “brutal.”
Rodrigo returned with equally iconic GUTS in 2023. Her musicianship shines through the ballads she’s known for, through tracks like “logical” and “the grudge.” She doesn’t shy away from the experimental punk rock, however, demonstrating her versatility in “ballad of a homeschooled girl” and “love is embarrassing.” On June 12th, 2026, Rodrigo released you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, debuting at No. 1 with all 13 tracks on Billboard Hot 100. Standouts from this album include “maggots for brains,” “what’s wrong with me,” and “expectations.” This album has demonstrated the clear voice and style Rodrigo has developed throughout her career, making her one of the most exciting artists in pop music.
As for the other artists, one standout on the lineup is girl group KATSEYE. KATSEYE is unique in their kpop-adjacent style and group formation, as all six original members went through an intense training program known as Dream Academy. Debuting in 2024, KATSEYE has quickly garnered the attention of audiences across the globe. What truly launched them into the spotlight was “Gnarly,” released in 2025. It isn’t just the music that captivates listeners, but the girls’ incredible performing talent. All women are phenomenal dancers, and their live performances entrance the audience with their intricate, high-energy choreography. With only one EP out and no debut album announcement, these girls have demonstrated an incredible ability to rise to fame. With member Manon Bannerman on hiatus, the members of KATSEYE have continued business as usual, with an EP scheduled to release next month and a worldwide tour to follow.
Introducing: The Artists
Continuing the lineup is the phenomenal Chappell Roan. Roan’s rise to fame was a slow burn up until her 2023 single “HOT TO GO!” skyrocketed her into the limelight. While it took some time for people to catch on to the masterpiece that is The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess (2023), the appreciation of her work spread rapidly, and by 2025, she became one of the biggest, openly lesbian artists to grace the pop music scene. When the long awaited release of “The Subway” arrived, it debuted at No. 1 on the global Spotify music chart. Not only an incredible performer and a powerhouse when it comes to vocals, Roan has never shied away from expressing her beliefs and standing up for what she believes in. Roan and Rodrigo also have history together, as Roan opened for Rodrigo at a few shows on her SOUR tour. She’s also been a surprise guest at one of Rodrigo’s shows, and this festival proves their continued support for one another.

The festival isn’t limited to pop music artists; hip hop and rap artist Doechii will be performing at the festival as well. Doechii made huge waves in the rap scene when she released her mixtape Alligator Bites Never Heal in 2024. Tracks like “DENIAL IS A RIVER” and “NISSAN ALTIMA” brought the masses’ attention to Doechii’s artistry, making her a prominent queer artist within her genre. Proof of her talent came with the 2025 Grammy’s, where Doechii won Best Rap Album for Alligator Bites Never Heal. She’s another outstanding performer included on this lineup, which is especially evident in her 2025 Grammy’s performance of “CATFISH/DENIAL IS A RIVER.”
Diversifying the genres at this festival is also Mitski, who is a big name in the indie rock/folk scene. Known specifically for her skilled lyricism and ability to appeal to listeners’ emotions, Mitski became renowned in her scene as early as 2012 with her debut album Lush. Still a student at SUNY Purchase, Mitski demonstrated early on an incredible ability to craft music that hits the listener right in the heart. Her reputation was established with “Class of 2013” in 2013—a showstopping, harrowing piece of music. Mitski’s lyricism hits home for many listeners, making her a distinguished artist in the “sad girl” music scene.
This only scratches the surface of the star-studded lineup this festival features, with other artists like Not for Radio, Rachel Chinouriri, and even the esteemed Stevie Nicks slated to perform.
Daisy Chain’s Purpose: Mission Statement and Charity Involvement
Beyond the stacked lineup of artists, Daisy Chain Fields stands out as the only music festival to feature solely artists that identify as women. As more and more festivals pop up, people have taken notice of the lack of female and queer representation in popular festival lineups. Rodrigo’s festival provides the necessary amplification of women’s voices in the music industry, all while creating a festival environment safe for women and queer individuals. It promotes community and how creativity can “inspire meaningful change.” The other astounding element of this festival is that 100% of net proceeds are going towards charities that advocate and support women. There’s a lengthy list of organizations Rodrigo has announced she will donate to, but to name a few: Planned Parenthood, Black Lives Matter Alliance, Center for Reproductive Rights, National Institute for Reproductive Health, and John Hopkins Center for Indigenous Health. Additional information can be found on the Daisy Chain Fields Instagram account (@daisychainfields) for further research on these foundations and how they provide support.
Rodrigo has achieved incredible feats in her early career, and this festival is one of them. The festival completely sold out in a mere 30 minutes, proving the hype and necessity for this kind of amplification of women’s voices and creation of a safe space. This festival is one-of-a-kind and will go on to be a legendary example of using one’s fame for good.
